MEET Program

Connecting young mentors with underprivileged children to learn, grow, and thrive together.

MEET is an online education initiative that connects U.S. youth volunteers with financially underprivileged students in India to provide academic instruction, life-skills learning, and digital literacy support.

What MEET Does

Youth volunteers lead Zoom-based sessions in subjects like public speaking, book clubs, basic sciences, mathematics, technology, classical music, and more. For advanced learners, MEET offers coding classes and research-based academic work. MEET groups are supervised by HOH adults to ensure a safe and supportive learning environment.

Impact

Students receive tailored support that boosts their academics, confidence, communication, and digital awareness. Volunteers also benefit—gaining leadership ability, empathy, presentation skills, and a deeper awareness of social issues. MEET has grown into a vibrant community of learners on both sides of the world.

How It Started & Why It Matters

MEET was conceived by Dr. Nilima Sabharwal and supported by actress Bhumi Pednekar. It began at Abhyudaya Ashram, working with the BEDIA community, a historically marginalized group. The first classes were led by youth co-founders Sahej Singh and Keshav Khanna. Today, MEET has expanded to programs at the National Association for the Blind (NAB) in Delhi, supporting blind and visually impaired students.
