SMILE Program

Creating joyful, inclusive spaces where every child belongs and shines.

SMILE is an inclusive program that creates joyful, engaging, and community-building experiences for children with special needs across multiple U.S. locations.

What SMILE Does

SMILE volunteers lead fun-filled Zoom and in-person sessions featuring music, singing, jokes, arts, skill-building, and social activities. The program is designed to include children with autism, cognitive disabilities, physical disabilities, hearing or vision impairments, and other special needs.

Impact

SMILE boosts confidence, social interaction, independence, and emotional well-being for children with special needs. It also provides meaningful respite and community support for their families. For HOH-YC volunteers, SMILE builds empathy, patience, leadership, and a strong sense of social responsibility.

How SMILE Started & Why It Matters

Founded in the Bay Area in 2019, SMILE has grown rapidly due to its deeply inclusive design and the joy it brings to families. The program addresses a significant gap by providing accessible social spaces for children of varying abilities and connecting families who might otherwise feel isolated.
