Projects – Koshish

Empowering disadvantaged New Delhi communities through education, healthcare, nutrition, vocational training, and women’s livelihood support.

Location & History:

The Koshish project is located in Sarita Vihar, New Delhi, India, and was established in 2010. Since its inception, the program has served highly disadvantaged children and families living in New Priyanka Camp, providing long-term educational and social support.

Core Focus of the Project:

Koshish is a holistic learning and empowerment initiative supporting 250 children and their families through education, nutrition, healthcare, and life-skills development.

Key highlights of the program include:

  • A comprehensive learning program focused on education, nutrition, health, and economic empowerment
  • Support for youth after Class XII, including admission into professional training programs and assistance with job placements
  • The Magic of Maths Program, enabling students from Classes 1–12 to learn using the interactive Khan Academy curriculum
  • An Adult Education and Tailoring Program for mothers in the New Priyanka Camp community, promoting skill development and economic independence

HOH Partnership: When & Why

HOH partnered with Koshish based on a shared mission to empower marginalized communities, especially women and children, through education, healthcare, and livelihood enhancement.

The partnership strengthens efforts to:

  • Break intergenerational cycles of poverty
  • Expand educational access
  • Improve community health and wellness
  • Support women through skills, literacy, and economic opportunities

Impact of HOH Support

HOH’s involvement has significantly strengthened Koshish’s educational and vocational programs. Notable outcomes include:

  • Nearly all students successfully completed their academic year
  • Many students have finished their professional training programs and secured employment
  • Six students trained through the HOH-funded Hardware & Networking program were selected for the Agniveer program of the Indian Army
  • Numerous students are currently enrolled in job-oriented courses
  • The Magic of Maths initiative was launched using laptops provided by HOH
