From Barren Land to Thriving Forests

In 2020, Home of Hope partnered with Tamil Nadu’s Siruthuli to launch the HOH Green Project, transforming degraded land into thriving green spaces.

What began as a vision to create a “lung” for Coimbatore has grown into two flourishing forests with ~37,000 native trees across two sites. Through sustainable irrigation, mulching, and ongoing care, this initiative is an investment in the long-term health of our planet and local communities.

How We Create a Greener Future

RESTORING BARREN LAND

Previously degraded land is cleared of invasive vegetation and prepared for afforestation, creating the foundation for new forests.

PLANTING NATIVE TREES

Approximately 37,000 native trees have been planted, including species suited to the local environment and biodiversity of the Western Ghats region.

NURTURING THE FORESTS

The young forests are maintained through sustainable irrigation, mulching, pest management, and ongoing care.

RESTORING BIODIVERSITY

As the forests mature, they provide habitat for birds, insects, and other wildlife while helping restore the natural ecosystem.

CREATING GREEN LUNGS

The growing forests help improve air quality, reduce heat and pollution, and create healthier green spaces for the surrounding community.

Two Forests. One Vision.

Hope Vanam

One of the HOH Green Project’s afforestation sites, Hope Vanam demonstrates how once-barren land can be transformed into a thriving green space.

Vanitha Mohan Park

Another flourishing green space created through the project, Vanitha Mohan Park showcases the transformation that sustained planting and stewardship can achieve.

The Impact Goes Beyond Trees

Restoring Biodiversity

Healthy forests and vegetation can help improve water infiltration and support groundwater recharge.

Improving Air Quality

Growing trees absorb carbon dioxide and other pollutants while contributing oxygen to the atmosphere.

Reducing Heat
